Observing the Northern Lights in Tromso

Posted 1 year ago by tyrone in response to avatar ardi's question: When's the best time to note the Aurora Borealis in Tromso? (give a different answer) .

Cloudless nights, around 11 pm or midnight. The eerie lights are visible from late November to the beginning of April, but most clear they're in January or February. Once in Tromso, guides will offer you dogsled or reindeerled rides to the best observing spots. Lights are usually green, but they can eventually change into pink or gray curls - there's the Northern Lights Planetarium to explain the phenomenon, mainly Arctic winds clashing earthly electron atmosphere.
